Sale and Itch.io Payment Processor Stuff

Horingar:Darkside
A downloadable game for Windows

Itch.io has deindexed all NSFW games, including ones like Darkside that actually follow their rules. This means the game won’t show up in search results or under any tags, so we won’t be getting any natural traffic for a while.

We just launched a 35% off sale, but it’ll likely only be visible to our followers. Hopefully you can still see it, but at this point we’re not even sure if people can buy the game right now.

For those who already own the game, don’t worry. Support and updates will continue no matter what happens, even if Itch removes NSFW games completely. The only thing this changes is that we might not be able to sell the game through their store for a while.

This is mostly fallout from Visa and Mastercard pushing for tighter restrictions. Since we actually follow their rules, we don’t expect to be purged, but Itch is manually reviewing everything. With thousands of games to go through, it might take a long time before we’re re-indexed, and even then we don’t know how they’re going to handle it.

Patreon hasn’t given us any issues so far, and Steam has confirmed the game complies with their terms as we get ready to put it up for Wishlist there. So right now, only Itch is affected.

This is a big hit for us, since about 60% of our income comes from Itch. Patreon brings in about 15 to 20%, and the rest comes from direct donations, which are harder to manage.

We’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more.
