Snowflake Diamond: My Indie Game in the Making

Snowflake Diamond
A downloadable game

Hey everyone!

This is my first devlog for Snowflake Diamond, a 2D retro-inspired platformer filled with unusual charm, mystery, and a healthy dose of humor.

I’ve been working solo on this game during my fulltime job as a software engineer, doing the code, art, animation, music, and design. It's been a passion project that started as a small idea and slowly grew into something I truly love.

What’s the game about?
You play as Alvin, a young lad from Peaceful Village. He’s on a quest to recover the stolen Snowflake Diamond, a gem that protects his home,  even though no one else seems to care! Along the way, you’ll explore unique hand-drawn environments, collect gems, unlock powers, meet bizarre characters, and uncover the weird truth behind what’s going on.

Features
🎮 Classic platformer mechanics with modern polish
✨ Hand-crafted levels full of secrets and collectibles
🎵 Original music (I’m composing from scratch with inspirations of my favorite old school games )
😄 A mix of drama, mystery, and silly humor in the story

Right now, I’m wrapping up the demo, which includes the first few levels. It’s playable, fun, and getting closer to something I can proudly share! It should be around 20 minutes long, hopefully enough to give you a taste of what the full game will feel like.

I haven’t written devlogs for my previous games (was too lazy to!), but I plan to use these occasionally to share progress updates and hopefully get some feedback from you all along the way.

I’d love to hear what you think! Feel free to drop suggestions, feedback, or just say hi — it’s all much appreciated.

Thanks for reading! See you in the next devlog when I release the demo ^_^  cheers
