Hey pilots! 🛰️
Voidspace Survivors is starting to feel like a real game – and that moment when you dash between two enemies and survive by a pixel? It’s finally here (and just as satisfying as it sounds). 😅
You can now dash (or short-warp) by pressing spacebar. It’s on a short cooldown and will become absolutely essential when the screen fills with chaos later on. A glowing trail effect adds a visual punch to it!
The player ship now has real HP. Enemy contact causes damage, and although there's no UI yet, the core logic is working. This sets the foundation for future features like shields, healing, and armor upgrades.
Our very first enemy now spawns, chases and collides. It’s simple – but dangerous in numbers. Future enemy types will include ranged attackers, dashers, and boss-scale threats.
The engine now handles player-enemy collision properly. Touch an enemy? Boom – you take damage. Later on, we’ll also add knockback and visual feedback like hit flashes and screen shakes.
This update wraps up the first playable interaction loop:
➡️ Move → Dash → Get hit (hopefully not) → Learn → Try again.
Thanks for following the journey so far. Every small system is one step closer to the full chaotic space brawl that Voidspace Survivors is meant to be.
