UI Revamp & 'Removing' Weapons For Paths

Hey everyone, I've been hard at work behind the scenes, and I'm excited to share some pretty significant updates that are really shaping up Shaperush!

Slicker Than Ever: UI Improvements!

First up, the Level-Up UI has gotten a complete overhaul. I've focused on making it super clean, intuitive, and visually engaging.  Just a smooth experience when you're making those crucial upgrade decisions. It was a blast to bring this to life, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. (If you haven't seen it, check out my latest Twitter video!)


A Fork in the Road: Introducing 'Paths'!

Now, for the big one: I've made some fundamental changes to how weapons work, and it's all centered around the new 'Paths' system.

You might have noticed that the concept of "random weapons" has been removed from the game. But don't worry, weapons aren't gone! Far from it. I've just rethought and reworked how you interact with them to add a much deeper layer of strategy and player choice.

Instead of getting random weapon drops from enemies, when you start your run, you'll now choose a Path. This choice is huge because it immediately changes the weapon you'll wield and, more importantly, shapes your entire leveling journey.

Each Path comes with its own unique starting weapon and a tailored set of abilities and upgrades that you'll encounter as you progress. This means your strategic decisions are front-loaded, letting you specialize and build a character exactly how you want, right from the start.

Honestly, when I started diving into implementing 'Paths,' I was bracing myself for a total bug-hell. It felt like the moment of truth for this development cycle – was I going to spend weeks just fixing integration issues, or would I actually get to expand on the core system? Thankfully, it went surprisingly smoothly! It just clicked, and now we have a solid foundation to build even more exciting choices for you.

I am really excited about how 'Paths' will enhance replayability and allow for diverse playstyles. Get ready to forge your own destiny!(paths are so cool ngl)
