Hi all! Today I decided to start gearing up to getting a demo ready for Steam, and a big part of that is the ability to lock some content away from players until later! In the context of a demo, that means they'll just be able to use a sub-set of the available characters, decorations, difficulties, and tactics. The idea will be to give folks a taste so they can enjoy the full game when it comes out later.
A nice side effect of adding this system is that I can finally have some meta-progression instead of having everything unlocked for new players, which can be pretty overwhelming! To that end, today's build starts small by locking down the Baker and Potion Dealer until you complete some easy achievements, and each non-Village difficulty until you beat the previous difficulty. I plan on locking down some of the more complex tactics and decorations too, but that's probably a tomorrow problem.
That said, if you like having everything unlocked, have no fear! You can just go to the Options' Profile menu and click the Unlock All button I've also added today, and you can keep using everything. This'll unlock all locked content, and grant you all achievements though, so if you're looking for a challenge, maybe don't do that
Another fun update I've added today is a custom hardware cursor! It's the shopkeeper's paw! I always love when games do this, so I decided to add one too! If you hate fun, you can disable it in Display settings under Options though.
There's a few other changes in there too, so here's the full changelog:
