Devlog #1 – Thank You for Playing the Early Prototype!
Hey everyone,
First of all, thank you so much to everyone who played the prototype of The Quiet Days of Dorothy and took the time to share feedback. Your responses have been incredibly helpful and encouraging.
I’ve been going through all the notes and suggestions, and here are some of the main takeaways:
- Some players felt the pet care mechanic got a bit stressful or confusing.
- There wasn’t much to do after finishing a conversation.
- People loved the cozy vibe and story, but wanted more fun interactions.
- Some UI and tutorial elements still need work (noted!).
Based on this feedback, I'm currently working on updating the overall game flow to create a better balance between interaction, relaxation, and story progression.
Here’s a little look at what’s coming next:
- The feeding and caring sessions will include short, simple mini-interactions. These won’t take long to complete, but should make the process of caring for the starter feel more alive and fun.
- To reduce stress, I’m separating pet care from dialogue. You’ll only enter new story moments when your starter is resting or asleep, so you can focus on one thing at a time without pressure.
- I’m also working on adding cozy activities around the kitchen window. Maybe it’s bird watching. Maybe it’s bird feeding. Maybe both! Still figuring it out, but I want to give you more ways to enjoy the quiet moments.
Thanks again for being part of this early stage of the game. Your feedback helps shape every step forward. Looking forward to sharing more updates soon.
Stay warm,
Rai
