Base map rework & tons of bugfixes!

Longest Front
A downloadable game for Windows

Moved the base in front of village and closer to the enemy spawns. Also adjusted the spawning of friendlies and enemies on defense maps. This makes defending a lot more how I envisioned it. Endless waves of Russians attacking and you holding on for dear life!

When upgrading just be sure to start a new game since the old save games will still be expecting the old map layout.

Thanks to the detailed testing done by PureedJuice I was able to fix countless bugs which should make the game a lot more stable and enjoyable.

New Features:

  • AI players can now use grenades
  • You can call in stationary guns built in base mode into missions
  • Added combat area borders on map
  • Added a game end screen for when the war ends on 8 May 1945

Major Changes:

  • Base is now placed in front of village and village starts controlled by friendlies.
  • Base starts with sandbags.
  • Enemies now have 3 different spawn locations on defend map and spawn randomly from one of those.

Improvements:

  • Now possible to click on future unlocks and see info and cost even if you haven't reached the required level yet
  • Adjusted unlock cost of items. More items now cost silver and gold.
  • Adjusted hint when driving off road on rough terrain
  • Player can now equip and unequip AI soldiers
  • Reduced Panzer 4 stored MG ammo
  • Added back DLSS plugin as it is now available for Unreal Engine 5.6
  • When starting a new game you can choose to not show commander messages if you find them annoying
  • Adjusted random mission date time for season to avoid fighting in darkness
  • Gun placements now send sound events to AI players when rotating turret. This allows AI to better find and attack gun placements.
  • Allow selecting spawn point after loading base map with multiple spawn points available
  • Lowered enemy spawns on base map into the ground a bit to give them protection
  • Add AI Squad commander voice command
  • Allow deconstructing supply boxes
  • Vehicle occupants now have different ranks

Optimization:

  • Active vehicle limit was not working which could impact performance
  • Reduced nav mesh tile size to avoid hitches
  • Made storage boxes not affect nav mesh when they are moving to prevent continuous nav mesh generation which causing hitches

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed bug where AI ranks and loadouts aren't saved
  • Fixed crash when building Pak 40
  • Third group does not allow recruitment
  • AI does not put on clothes after you take them off (e.g. M43)
  • Tilting camera (Q and E) resulted in irregular camera movement (i.e. violent jerking)
  • Fix typo in Force Move
  • Ammo Crates don't have enough capacity to do their jobs (e.g. 88mm crate only carries one shell)
  • Fix Blitz rear hitch for towing
  • Increase RP cap so it is possible to call in tanks on hard missions
  • AI that crew placements do not equip weapons after disembarking
  • T-34 could be destroyed using 2cm Flak 38
  • Attempt to fix crash when getting player level. Probably crashed in main menu.
  • Fixed Force Move
  • Fix soldiers can't be commanded anymore after mounting fails
  • Fix saved vehicles start to to drive after loading game
  • Setting up guns too close to each other in base mode leads to them not spawning in defense mission
  • Radio,RM supplies and ammo boxes should not disappear after loading anymore
  • Added off map artillery so radios can be used
  • You can now try to call artillery with no artillery marker set on map. Artillery will say it's not possible because they don't have a target.
  • Prevent mortar falling through ground when built
  • Prevent loot falling through ground
  • AI infantry doesn't shoot at the crew of gun placements
  • Interaction menu didn't show when a weapon will be swapped instead of picked up
  • Don't allow commanding bots to move beyond combat volume
  • Deactivate spawn points when they are outside combat area (Blitz truck)
  • Don't save human soldiers when mounted
  • Enemies looking in wrong direction when spawning
  • Mission spawn menu buttons changed when hovering over them
  • Turrets weren't able to see enemies when depression or elevation was high
  • Attempt to fix crash related to bot commands and check for aiming
  • It was possible to loot enemy vehicles while enemies were still inside
