After about 4 years after the introduction of the Maid Job events, the Maid Ending is now finally in the game! I wrote in the project plan that I wanted to do a variation A and B, but that sadly got cut as I didn't see enough of a reason to do a "resistant" version in the case the Maid Ending gets triggered through defeat at Arwin's hands.
Which brings me to the hint in case you want to see the new ending. Either:
In the recollection room you will see the "Betrayal Version" note in some of the Maid Ending events - which is essentially a weaker version of the A/B variations I had in mind. It triggers in the case you went through the Full Time Maid job route. It's not a lot of difference though. I should also note that it makes a difference whether you lose to Arwin before he casts Festival of Greed or after, the latter being a bit closer to the Betrayal Version in terms of what happens to Aura's companions.
In principle, we are already ready for the beta release in terms of story content at this point. Some technical and art work remains. E.g. Aura's Lewd Maid costume which will become NG+ available through the Deluxe Console and a pregnant H-CG variation for the Betrayal Version. There will also be a little bit more artwork inbetween the beta release and the 1.1.0 release like putting Alicia into a maid costume.
Then besides that we have some other construction sides where progress was made:
On the first we have the work of our assistant developer Trihan, whose work sadly will at most bring bugs at this point, as it's all technical behind the scenes work, but make our costume system more flexible for the future. He has improved the paperdoll system to extend to various menu elements so that they all use the standing image as the source. Previously I had to manually make portrait versions, restricting the possible combinations of costume and hair to the fixed versions I provided. For SKA this will only matter for the Deluxe Console & it makes it easier to add new costumes as it reduces the amount of images needed per costume and hair style to 1 and 2 respectively (2 for hair styles because they have front and back hair).
Then, we also have some progress from our pixel artist MemorableMan who had taken on the job of adding some more detail to our meidos at Arwin's mansion.
They will now be sweeping, dusting and polishing all over the place, showing their dedication and loyalty through their hard work.
On the last front, we have some balancing changes in Richard's Domain. The demon general replacement encounters all lost at least 1 demon except for the final encounter and also their attributes were slightly lowered by about 5%.
Aaaaand that's about it for this week. Next week, I have just a few more polish actions I want to look at but otherwise I am fairly ahead of my personal schedule. So, outside of integrating the last assets next week and some polish work, I will porbably be working on Liora by integrating the new Edgar character art and replacing more placeholder texts / adding more tutorials.
Also, current state of the pubic hair poll for Liora.
