This week I focused on expanding the new Mine Minigame I introduced last time. There are now multiple levels instead of just one, the ore locations are randomized, and there’s even some super rare ore to find.
We’ve also added a gaggle of goblins in the cave as obstacles to avoid or smash through. Plus, we’ve introduced this lovely new troll, courtesy of Fae Silver.
He does look rather at odds with our current goblin design, which makes sense since he was the first sprite Fae ever drew for the game.
With the mine nearly finished – aside from the lead-in quest I sadly wasn’t able to complete this week – and some general polish left to do, the next big content update I’ll be working on is the Goblin Mountains: a whole new zone with exciting new stories to tell. And in order to tell those stories, we of course need new goblins!
Like this handsome fellow, who will be included in our backer gallery update this Sunday over on Patreon and SubscribeStar, alongside plenty of other high-resolution renditions of Fae's art. So look forward to that, along with an exciting update from our environmental artist next week!
But until then, thank you all for your patience and support – it really means the world to me. This minigame in the mines took way longer than I expected it to, but I don't think I'll attempt something this complicated again in RPG Maker. That means I can hopefully get back to making more tangible updates in the future, like story content, which is a whole lot easier to discuss and share with you than my struggles with coding.
