Update v05 Released!

A downloadable game for Windows

WOO WEE, WHAT A DOOZIE!

So, a lot of time has passed, and a LOT of changes have been made, while keeping things relatively the same. However, I can now finally say: THIS IS THE OFFICIAL FINAL VERSION FOR THE DEMO!

Unless there's something catastrophically wrong with the Demo, all further updates will be for the full release version of Project 0193. 

Now onto the changes! Starting with the most obvious change:


BIGGER SCREEN!

  • That's right! The resolution for the game has been increased! No more tiny screen to deal with! Now you get more VIEWING DISTANCE!
  • Yeah, the sprites all stay the same size, but now it doesn't feel so claustrophobic! You'll get to see many more tiles over in each direction!
  • This also leads to:


CHARACTER ART!

  • Every major character now has their own artwork! Drawn by me! So you know it's terrible (biggest reason why it took so long to push this out)! 
  • This also lead to some character art changes for some Battle Characters, but there's still a lot of AI work that needs to be replaced at some point. This will likely be done for the full release version, and not for the final Demo version.


COMBAT OVERHAUL!

  • Len and other mechanical enemies have been given a Barrier! This means that on top of their relatively low health, they will now have a constantly replenishing barrier to act as a buffer. Bare in mind, most attacks from friends and foes have at least some level of barrier penetration! Status effects, such as bleeds and poisons, can also bypass the barrier, so be warned!
  • Along with the Barrier, there's been a slight balancing change. CK is no longer useless, and Len is finally capable of doing... well, something. HAZZAH!
  • More balancing is required, of course. This is a learning experience for me, so any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated.
  • IN ADDITION TO THE COMBAT SYSTEM OVERHAUL, PLEASE REMEMBER TO EQUIP ALL WEAPONS YOU OBTAIN! 
    • There are 50 different categories for weapons to equip. In order to freely switch between any weapon DURING battle, you will need to have them equipped before hand. I added a Book of Knowledge to also explain more about the combat in your Key Items.


FISHING!!!

  • That's right! Fishing has now been added, although in a very rudimentary form. It's still fishing, though! The further you progress, the more variety of fish you can find! After all, if there isn't fishing, the game is shit!


COOKING!!!!!

  • To compliment Fishing, you can now cook a variety of meals! Check your Key Items to find a Cookbook with different recipes and the effects that each meal gives!
  • I... Might have to balance some of these, too.... Hmm... Welp, what can I say, I'm a 3-footed elephant with a T-Rex riding and hanging off one side while I'm walking a tight rope in circus that's on fire during a never-ending 9.6 Earthquake!

SIDE QUESTS!!!

  • Added various side quests, at least in the first portion of the game. Very minor, but some will require fishing and cooking. Not detrimental to gameplay/progression, but you can get some neat things as rewards.


AUTO SAVES!!!

  • No more do we have to suffer in silence! We now have AUTOSAVES! HOWEVER... There's a caveat. Autosaves will overwrite the last used Save File Slot, which means I set it to Prompt you before it proceeds to Autosave, that way you can choose a different slot to save in, if you so desire. This is all in an effort to encourage frequent saving, as there still is a known crashing issue.


There's a ton more that's been added, but going over everything might be a little too much. Gotta leave a little bit of a surprise! My hope is that with this update, the Full Release version of the game will be able to utilize Save Files made within the Demo Version. That's what I'm aiming for.
