Hey you all!
It's Flynn, our 3D modeler for Edge Case back again with another update! Since my last dev blog post I have added a lot of assets to both the studio and our meta world within the game: Genesis! I wanted to make and texture more clutter to place around the studio. This was something necessary to give the studio that abandoned, lived in feeling we are aiming for. I decided to make a list of assets and clutter objects to model and texture. I created a Flashlight asset for the player to hold in the studio. I also came up with the following list for interactive props: Devkit chest, Refrigerator, Microwave, Safe, and Vending Machine. Next I came up with some decorative props: a Desk lamp, Outlet and Light switch, Door plaque, Security camera, Front glass door, Sidewalk, Road, Emergency gate, Interior doors, Intercom, Folder, Paper stack, HVAC pipes and vent, Paper cup, Soda can, Trash can, Trash bag, Exit sign, Fire alarm, and a Smoke detector. I wanted to incorporate these models to achieve a more realistic studio space.
Since my last update post I have also since gone in and modeled and textured the assets for Genesis, our meta world inside our game accessible via the headset I created. I decided to go for a much lower poly count art style with stylized textures. We chose this art style to give the feeling of an unfinished game for the abandonware theme. The meshes within this world have much less detail so it is easy to differentiate Genesis from the real world studio level. I ended up making the following assets: a Campfire, Chest, Dev Note, Large Tree, Logs, Rocks, Stalactite, Balcony, Tent, Tree stump, wall with gate, a bush, and multiple variations of rocks for the cave area.
Thank you all so much for your interest in this game and it's development! I can't wait to see your feedback as we continue to develop our beta into the gold master version!
