PaintdotGO
A downloadable tool

Back in April...

After not finding a suitable paint.net alternative for Linux, I decided to make my own (because how hard it could be :clown:),  I considered by using Pixelorama code for a moment, but decided make a new project to familiarize with Godot 4 quirks, then, the day after my resolution is at it's highest, Pinta got updated and found it to be an ok replacement, immediately after, I found Pixelitor being a more than ok replacement with a bunch of goodies.

As hopefully evident by the generous use of Comic Sans a playful font: this chart is subjective.

So, what do I do now? continue my own thing, in the spirit of Quite OK Audio Format, it aims to fill a gap (trying to find the sweet spot of accessibility and features) ideally to be the "paint.net" of easy procedural content, taking cues from Blender Geometry Nodes/Inkscape/Affinity Designer, just more game asset focused, not so much for professional design, while avoiding using nodes (for as long as possible) since alternatives already exist (PixiEditor/FOSS, Graphite/FOSS, Pixel Composer /Closed/Paid).

Picture of the earliest prototype from August above (a weekend project) then life happened and restarted early april, and below the current mess that has prototype written all over its face.

Also to take it out of the way, it would be nice to get money from it, if gets to the point it's worth (if ever), but I hate when programs end up with limited functionality behind a paywall, so, a very generous full featured infinite demo like Reaper or WinRAR will do.

Let's see where those principles take me.
