Well, almost... I still have some testing, and time for some corrections, so I'm going to take this one all the way to probably 10:30 P.M. tonight (hopefully 29 minutes BEFORE the deadline >_<). Again, I learned a lot. I'll be putting the meat of that in the game's postmortem, so I am just going to talk about how this jam is going to effect the overall project. Project Emerald will have to be a full base. I cannot keep making a new game from ground zero anymore. This will disqualify me for lots of jams, but I might still join some if a side story idea and/or I want to experiment with gameplay changes (anything that will not require a copy of Project Emerald as a base for all the data, plugins, maps, art, etc...). I have a lot of possible concerns for this method, but I'm going to try it to see how it goes.
The only exception to this (besides the game jam EW) will be the prologue to the game. I have decided to leave it as is (don't really want to start over) and keep it closer to a visual novel than a game. The prologue will have little to no combat (nothing can carry over to other games so there's no point), no items (unless I forget to erase the one I already put in), but it will be a good intro to the story, and I will have optional content that will give some insight into the two main characters of the games. Hopefully, testing and fixing will not take longer than a month. The game is already programed as it was going to be part of the jam, but it turned out to be about 30 minutes long, so I had to cut it. So I hope it can be finished sooner rather than later.
After that point, I will be taking time to work on my online lore site with World Anvil, more drawing, and the Project Emerald base. I will probably also make a new world map showcase to view/download here once the base is caught up. I know, I'm still having trouble updating every week, but I promise I am working on it. This jam was difficult (because I took on too much, even though I was very prepared), but again I learned things I wouldn't have learned if I didn't do it. Thank you so much for reading this! If I someday get even one fan, or influence another developer to not give up, then I know I was able to make a difference. Thank you.
