New version released!

Flappy Fighter
A browser Flappy fighter made in HTML5

Howdy!

Today is the day when the new version of “Flappy fighter” flies onto the server.

Before we get to the changes.

Probably people who haven’t forgotten about this project since my last post, or since the last update, and have been waiting for the next changes, have wondered why there has been no sign of life from me for so long. I am a student and unfortunately my exam session has started, so I had to focus on my exams. Additionally, this project is my drawer project, because I am also in the process of writing my engineering thesis. For the above reasons, unfortunately, I did not have as much time to work on the game as I would have liked. I hope you will understand me and not eat me.

And now what have I added?

I have added to the game:

  • Simple main menu
  • Particle system when moving.

What has been changed?

I had to change one thing:

  • Speed up the camera to make it more responsive.

Bugs I noticed.

In the meantime I played the game here on the site and noticed a very disturbing bug. Actually it’s not even a bug but a strange effect:

  • Whenever particles start appearing the game lags for a moment, but then runs smoothly again.
  • In the local version (on the computer) there is no such problem.
  • I suspect the problem may be that I’m using something called GPU Particles in Godot.

What can I recommend for this?

A temporary workaround is to try to attack and move after starting the game. Let the game lag and play normally.

Future plans:

Some of the things I plan to add in the next version are:

  • The seeds of my goal idea.
  • New player graphics. (maybe animations)
  • Fix the particle problem. (or replace them with something)

That’s it!

That’s all for this post, thank you very much for your support!
