Hey hey everyone! We've got a lot to talk about in this devlog, from 2.0 to adressing the mobile port, let's get started!
Update 1.2 launches!
We did it! We launched 1.2 in June! I honestly didn't think it was possible, but sometimes I tend to forget how fast I can work when super super motivated! I've heard a lot of good reception and feedback from the update so far! We've also put out a few bug fixes as well to fix some of the things we missed in testing! (These things happen, we can't always catch every bug instantly!) We're excited to continue working towards Chapter Two finally! However, with a new giant update came problems, and I feel like its necessary that we address said problems.
Addressing the Mobile Port.
As some of you might have known, or experienced for yourself, the mobile port received a TON of issues upon launching with 1.2. This is not something we had prepared for, but it was something we had expected to be a possibility in the future, which made me afraid to even launch Nexitron on Mobile to begin with.
This game started off as a small chapter with the most bare bones design and gameplay, but as development moved on, so did the scale of the game, and it's reached heights that while very amazing, are extremely big and nothing we could have predicted once we began development. The file size grew, additions from all ends of the RPG Maker Community were added, and new features were implemented into the game, and as we did this, the game grew larger and larger, and unfortunately, led to the game being playable on mobile, practically impossible at the end of the day. We knew this might happen, but we weren't expecting it to get as bad as it was. And with that, we had to make a decision.
So, if you didn't hear already, we made the tough decision to discontinue Geometry Dash: Nexitron on Mobile. It was a tough decision to make, but we couldn't make Nexitron on mobile happen without completely stripping away what made Nexitron unique, just to make it compatible on mobile devices, and we thought that wasn't fair to our mobile base. So, we've reverted Nexitron back to version 1.0.2, and we've renamed it "The Legacy Edition Port." if you still have 1.2, we encourage you revert back to 1.0.2, as 1.2 is deemed unplayable due to a permanent softlock that completely ruins the game.
This was a tough decision, but nothing could be done to save it. Maybe sometime down the line we can make it possible, but giving you guys a watered down version of the game doesn't feel right to us. We hope you guys understand.
Moving on to some more positive news.
So what’s next?
I've been taking a bit of a break from, well, everything after 1.2, and I've been stepping back to look at what needs to be done for the rest of the year. After all, we're practically halfway done with the year! And we've got so much planned for the rest of it outside of Nexitron! Running a company solo is not easy! So more projects have to be worked on to keep everyone satisfied! I'll be slowly working on 2.0 throughout the remainder of the year, and I think I've got a pretty reasonable schedule. We've got to raise some money for future stuff and create products for others, so we're pretty busy behind the scenes! Let's just say the rest of the year is packed, and we're hoping we can make Chapter Two a part of it!
That being said... You guys know I love to be transparent with you guys, so, during my break I've been coming up with something that I would like to discuss with you all, just so we're on the same page! That thing is...
The Game Plan.
I've sat down and written down what's left of 2.0/Chapter Two's development, and I think we can get this thing out THIS YEAR if things go super well and nothing major happens that ruins development. So let's run down the plan.
This seems like a pretty good plan right?? I've planned out the next few months in their entirety, including other projects, (super organized I know) And we should be good to go! Now, I want to remind you all that GAME DEVELOPMENT, TAKES TIME. LOTS OF TIME. And things often get in the way, so I don't want to raise your guy's hopes up too much, cause as I've said, anything can happen and completely crash my plans. But I can't lie, Chapter Two this year is looking reallyyyy good.
As for the Chapter Three art, I do plan on working on Chapter Three during Chapter Two just a tad bit. Not the entirety of it, but just basically making what's essentially the "building blocks" for Chapter Three. That way, the wait for 3.0/Chapter Three won't take as long as Chapter Two has taken. Not only that, but it gives me more time to dedicate to working on the levels! That's what this fan game is about after all, the cool levels! I really do want to take my time with the ones that come in Chapter Three, as I want to make them as good as possible, and I have some CRAZY ideas for a lot of them! Even for ones in Chapter Two! I would really like to blow you guys away, and I'm trying my best to create enjoyable gameplay while also giving a bit of a challenge! (And also making sure they fit with the story). A lot of thought goes into these levels. So I'm really hoping you guys enjoy them when they come out!
Well that's all I got to discuss for this devlog! I can't wait to share more about this project and to show you guys more of the Development! And to everyone out there, I hope you all have an amazing July! See you (maybe) next month! :)
