Fur Quests
A downloadable game for Windows

Greetings, dungeoneers, and welcome back for another Fur Quests update—now available on Itch!

Ever since I started working on Fur Quests, I’ve wanted to include mini-games to add a bit of variety to the experience. Heck, in the original build, I even had an Oblivion-style lockpicking mini-game up and running.

But it didn’t take much playtesting before I scrapped it. Without patrolling guards that might catch you while unlocking a door, it just felt like pointless busywork. What was there to gain from success? What was there to lose? Worst-case scenario, you could just brute-force it until it worked.

I tried to keep that lesson in mind when I started working on the day-to-day activities around Cliffshade.

Fishing, for example, is now a timing-based mini-game that rewards precision: hit the hard mark and you land a big fish; hit the easy one and you get a small fish. But how do we spice it up even more? Well, the idea is that if you become an expert fisherman, you’ll have a chance to catch extra-rare fish—or even pull up some random loot. The game tracks your successes and scores them based on difficulty. Once you hit a high enough score, rare catches become possible. But fail, and your score resets.

I want each activity to have its own unique flair. For mining, the mini-game turns into a sort of time trial with quick-time events. This one's a bit more complex than the fishing game and is only about halfway done. The mini-game itself works, the timer functions, and ore locations are randomized as you move between zones. But I also want to add some threats—beasts, monsters, maybe even a rematch with the Pitfiend.

Right now, there’s only one zone used for testing, one kind of ore, and a weird glitch where the mouse bugs out during the game. I suspect it’s just another one of those RPG Maker limitations I’ll either have to live with or find a clever workaround for.

Either way, both mini-games are still in the testing phase. For the next update, I’ll aim to polish them up, add some story context, and—who knows?—maybe even throw in a few more mini-games if time allows.

Until then, as always, thank you all for your patience and support. It really means the world to me. So thank you!
