Silent Paradise version 1.0.4
Hello everyone, long time no see!
It's been more than a year since Silent Paradise's last update. What's going on?
To set expectations: this is mostly a bugfix update, though I added some improvements as well. Most of those fixes and improvements stem from the fact I upgrade the engine to its latest version, the one that powered its sequel, Lost Paradise.
Here's a non-exhaustive changelog:
- Save files are now immediately written on disk when you save. Previously, the game only did so when you exited. So if the game crashed, you may lose progress... I had it fixed for Lost Paradise and now it's benefiting Silent Paradise as well!
- Slightly improved the Grapple Hook. Again, this is now Lost Paradise's version, where this powerup played a larger role.
- Holding the down button underwater will let you sink faster.
- Improved the UI. It now renders with a x3 scale instead of x4 like the rest of the game, which means more space available. (You guessed it: just like Lost Paradise.) I took this chance to adapt every codex entry and item description to take advantage of this extra space. Reading them should be more comfortable now.
- Fixed quite a few grammatical issues while I was at it. I also tweaked some sentences. You may notice a small nod to Lost Paradise in one codex entry... ;)
- Small bugfixes you probably won't notice.
So that's it. I love when the improvements I come up for one project end up benefiting my previous games as well! Though every time that happens I have to thoroughly test the game to make sure nothing's been broken by the engine upgrade. There were quite a few issues this time, but hopefully I've found and fixed them all.
Enjoy this new version of Silent Paradise!
Oh and in case you hadn't heard, Silent Paradise's got a new sibling recently so check out my new game, Distant Paradise!
