She’s a f@#$ing celebrity in this town! The PSO2 collab I personally wish we had, but never got, especially since not long ago the Bayonetta series had its 15th anniversary! Take advantage of this high risk-reward fighter with her point-blank attacks, utilizing the Scarborough Fair. They’re stylish, satisfying, and best of all: pretty damn devastating. She can also perform kicks, spin around, summon the Wicked Weave!
PSO2 players may be familiar with Bayonetta’s playstyle, because in this game, she plays as the Gunner class, with her Bullet Arts turned into Photon Arts! That being said, since this is the Gunner class, Chain Trigger is also included, along with forward Stylish Roll! No need for skill rings here!
Chain Trigger occurs automatically. Simply perform a Normal Attack or any PA that utilizes the guns on your opponent and you will see an overhead indicator of how many hits you landed. The more hits, the higher damage bonus, up to 200%! If you don’t hit anything within 5 seconds, the Chain Trigger will reset, so keep that uptime! Perform a Stylish Roll by pressing the Right Shoulder button (RB/R1/Middle Mouse Button). This not only gives you a chance to deal additional attacks, but also a pretty generous amount of invincibility! Time it right, and you can consecutively perform them.
Hunar got a MASSIVE rework, replacing some of his old crappy attacks with newer, flashier, powerful ones! As I got to work on more fighters, the early fighters I added in the game have been long-since neglected, so I needed to give them some love... For normal attacks, he now utilizes his fists, and instead of the fist slam attack, he can do the Rising Edge PA with his sword! His killer move is also a 3-part chain attack you have to JA at the right time, where he jumps up high and slams his sword! As soon as he jumps high off the screen, be sure to Step dodge!
Rockbear’s gotten bigger and stronger! He has learned a new move, the Geo Bodyslam, which he jumps into the air (with directional control mid-air and i-frames) and deal a huge shockwave with his body slam! Talk about meaty! To perform this move simply JA right after he does the somersault (LT+Y). The changes I made to him in this patch were also pretty drastic. Not only does he get a new move, he can wind up his Normal Attacks and deal up to 225% damage, which can surpass Bayonetta’s 100-Chain Trigger boost! The boost is retained if you Step Cancel, and resets if you either get hit, or complete the 3 Normal Attack JA’s. ※Only the Normal Attacks are applied the 225% boost. To accommodate, the damage and knockback of his other moves have been reduced.
Golem my beloved… he too gets a new move, though it’s a little more on the nonsensical side… hehe, and it’s the ability to blow his opponents off the stage INSTANTLY… at the cost of self-inflicting +200% damage! If your opponents step-counter, the fight will get risky by the second, since you’re the one who’s more prone to getting KO’d than they are, so use it wisely!
The Step Counter, the famous way of parrying in PSO2 Successor classes (and later in NGS), is finally here, and it’s a game changer! Performing a Step Counter is easy: just perform a Step at the right time as your foe attacks, and you will see a yellow spark with the Hero “shing!” sound, followed by full invincibility frames! You will receive a 200% damage bonus per Step Counter for a fixed amount of time (approx. 2 seconds), however, the damage does not stack, but the timer resets. This mechanic, hopefully, directly addresses the biggest pain point of the game: not being able to dodge while grounded. Previously, the only way of dodging enemy attacks was simply by jumping, but that will leave an opening for your opponent as they Step-cancel their attack and perform another move. Can you trick your opponents? Or perhaps find a new fighting style? Take advantage of Step Canceling to the next level!
It’s Varrigan City, from MadWorld! Fight in the alleys of Varrigan on the evening of DeathWatch, with the fighters also stylized to fit the black-and-white theme!
