Hey everyone! ๐ Welcome back to the development journey of What Has Happened. Iโve been hard at work fleshing out the core gameplay systems and getting all the foundational mechanics in place. Hereโs whatโs new:
๐น๏ธ Player Manager created! This central script now handles:
First-person controller (movement, look, crouch, sprint)
Health & damage (including hit reactions and UI updates)
Stamina system (for sprinting and heavy actions)
โ Everything feels tight and responsive—exactly what you want in a horror survival game.
๐ฎ Working torch item implemented:
Player can pick up a torch prefab
Animated arms hold the torch realistically
Light flickers dynamically, casting eerie shadows
๐ฅ Perfect for exploring dark corridors and forests!
๐ Fully persistent save system:
Save position, inventory, health, and world state
Continue exactly where you left off
๐ Built on a simple JSON-based solution for easy debugging and future cloud saves.
๐ฎ Main menu with:
New Game / Continue / Exit
Options submenu for Sound and Graphics
๐ Sound settings (master, SFX, ambient, UI)
๐ฅ๏ธ Graphics settings (resolution, quality presets, full-screen toggle)
๐พ All UI elements are styled with the horror theme and scale correctly for different resolutions.
Hereโs what Iโll be tackling in Devlog #3:
Inventory & Crafting System
Health item crafting (herbs, medkits, etc.)
Expanding item variety (weapons, special quest items, keys)
Polishing item animations and pick-up/drop mechanics
Stay tuned for more progress, screenshots, and (hopefully) a small demo of these systems in action! Thanks for reading and supporting Robot Stu Studio—every like, follow, and comment fuels this project. ๐๐งโโ๏ธ
