This update brings a mix of quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, mechanical reworks, and new content! Here's everything that's new or changed:
Refined Combat Mechanics:
Armor and armor skills are now more effective at reducing damage.
Balanced enemy health and attack values.
Character Speed, Creature Speed, and Weapon Speed now play a greater role in combat turn order, with possible missed attacks or follow up attacks.
Signature weapon bonus reduced from +20% to +10% damage.
Constitution and Intelligence now restore health or mana when leveling up. (e.g. 80/100 HP → +20 max → now 100/120 HP).
Luck Stat Rework: Luck has a chance to give you a second chance on failed checks.
Health & Mana Bars: Now show numerical values (e.g. 50 / 100).
Enemy HUD: Added a toggleable setting to show enemy level and health bars. This is enabled by default.
Windowed / Fullscreen Toggle: You can now switch between windowed and fullscreen mode from the settings menu.
Map Enhancements:
Added a compass and distance scale (in kilometers).
The river line on the map now starts hidden and becomes visible when discovered (like other locations).
Travel & Waiting Tweaks:
Increased success chance when resting by +10%, even on failed Stealth and Luck checks.
Increased chances of nothing happening when waiting or traveling by +5%.
Greatly reduced odds of the language merchant running off without teaching you the language.
Character Creator Tutorial: Brief guide added to walk players through character creation.
New Game Tutorial: Added a short tutorial that runs on starting a new game or loading a save file for the first time after updating. Returning players can choose to skip it.
Some food and drinks purchased at taverns and inns now grant temporary stat bonuses:
Beer, cider, or wine: +1 Charisma for 10 minutes
Beef stew: +1 Strength for 10 minutes
And more!
Stat checks now cap at 2% (minimum) and 99% (maximum); there are no longer guaranteed successes or failures based purely on stats.
Increased stat check success threshold by 5%
Fixed a bug where undiscovered nearby locations were incorrectly marked as discovered when loading a save.
Fixed an issue where fullscreen mode wouldn’t activate properly on startup.
Fixed an issue where damage from divine curses (e.g., from failing a Religion check or underpaying at shrines) would reduce the player to 0 HP but not kill them.
Reduced negative morality penalties for certain actions.
Added several new encounters and quests across the world, including a few jobs on the job board at the tavern in Capital City. Keep exploring, you might just stumble into something new!
