The Cardinal Park Case - Devlog #7

Sooooooo we meet yet again! And not much engine work has been done!

Before we get onto the little discussion I want to have, I might as well talk about what’s been done for The Cardinal Park Case Chapter(s) 5:

• The chapter system is more elaborate, allowing you to go directly to chapters instead of the dumb parts thing
• 40 CGs are complete for one of the routes
• 3 maps have been drawn
• Both routes are fully conceptualized, with subroute endings mostly planned out (still have to work on failstates for one of the routes)
• One route has a significant amount of writing done (still subject to changes as I work on the game, though)

Not much, right? Yeah.

And that’s because for the past few months, I’ve been working on other projects to help gain traction and build up the world of my games. And so that I can practice programming and drawing to make TCPC really good!

…Aaaand to prevent burnout XD.

In the meantime, I’ve been grinding away at CGs for TCPC. Based on what CGs I have so far and how much story stuff is in this route, I’d estimate that the CG count of this route will be over 100 CGs… Yeah. That’s a lot. I based this estimate off of the number of CGs in When it Rains Red, which acted sort of as a test run for one of the TCPC routes.

I remember that a couple of devlogs ago, I said I’d have the final patch out by August… Yeah, that’s not happening. And what was I thinking saying that? Really, though, as much as I want to finish TCPC, I don’t want to rush it either. Otherwise, you guys might be getting something half baked, and I’m gonna be sad about ending TCPC badly XD. So until I make a significant amount of progress on either Chapter 5 route, I won’t say anything about when the final patch will release. On a happier note, I’ll still be posting lots of art updates on my Bluesky account! Just to give small breadcrumbs of what’s to come in this route.
