Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well. So as I commented before, here is the development log that I will talk about every aspect of the game that I have developed so far.
Let's start with the characters:
Note: Some character may receive a little redesign.
The protagonist of Starry Chain is Kailan Sabre, a spotted panther who is the last of the Anomaks, a race with mystical powers. You will play as him as he tries to find a way to accomplish his duty as an Anomak.
Kahulam Sabre is the father of Kailan, and a master blacksmith. His route will be more platonic than romantic.
Brennan is a merchant and he owns a store in Igithel. He is the older of the group of friends and tries to keep things together, but he always fails miserably. He will share a route with Zavis.
Zavis is an employe in Brennan's store, but when he is not working in the store, he is hanging out with Faia. Zavis will share a route with Brennan
Muraad is the owner and manager of the bathhouse in Igithel. As the village grew bigger, so did his workload. Now he is looking for someone to help him with the bathhouse.
Artur is carpenter's apprentice. He is very calm and appears to be sleeping most of the time. However, it seems that he takes his job very seriously.
Ryudo is the librarian of Igithel. He takes care of the Library and the documents of the village. He seems to know about a lot of stuff.
Kehar is a warrior from the Murano tribe. To prove his pride and valor, he is even capable of putting his life in danger and face foes that he is not able to win.
Starry Chain will have a great diversity of characters. I have over 20 characters planned for chapter one alone.
The game will be divided into three chapters. It is a long term project, so by doing this way it will be easier for me to manage my work.
Chapter one- Twilight Falls:
Note: Due to changes, chapter two and three are under another brainstorm. I won't be able to say many things about them.
The Routes will be available before the final arc of chapter one. However, you will need some requirements to unlock the choice that gives access to a character's routes.
Every route except one will have four endings (bad, neutral, good and perfect). One of the main factors that will determine the ending will be the affection of the character, but there will be other factors.
Items will be used to unlock some choices in the games or alter some paths of the story. They will also be used to access new locations and events in the maps. Kailan will collect some items as the story progresses.
Map: A map screen will appear when Kailan has to decide where to go. The location on the map will trigger events.
Events: In the events, Kailan will be able to bond with other characters and collects useful items.
The library will store some pieces of information about the world that Kailan may learn as he progresses in the story. These pieces of information won't interfere in the game, however. They are there in case you need to have a question cleared up.
Affection and Friendship will change the way some dialogues play and it will unlock choices as well. Every character has a friendship gauge, that will increase or decrease depending on your actions. This also applies to the affection gauge.
I am currently working on fixing the demo and preparing the next update to launch. However, this week haven't been kind to me, that is why I am punching the next update launch date to 08/30.
One of my priority is to hire a full-time editor to help me encounter and fix errors that will certainly pass me by. This is one of my Patreon goals.
In the future, I plan to implement a gallery with replay function so you can relive some scenes of the game. I already tried doing it but, it is more difficult then it looks. But I sure I will manage to do it in the future. If I can't, I will hire some Python expert.
