Big changes

Essentia
A downloadable game

After almost a month of development, I can finally share all the results! A ton of work has been done.

The main thing - the entire project's color correction has been completely redone. All the in-game art was reworked into grayscale so it can be easily manipulated on the engine side with post-processing and color correction.

Several new visitors have been added:

  • Farmer

  • Milkmaid

  • Homeless man

Weather was added - rain specifically. Now, at certain points in the game, it can start raining, which affects visitor dialogues and adds a more immersive atmosphere while working.

The entire kitchen was redrawn - every kitchen element has been animated and given mechanics. Now all kitchen elements can be moved or interacted with.
Hot coals were also added, complete with their own animation.

A working animated radio was added, which plays all the exclusively created tracks to enhance the cozy in-game atmosphere.

On top of that, much of what was mentioned above has been given sound - it now features pleasant interaction sounds. Sounds were added for:

  • The coals

  • Hand bellows in action

  • Mortar and pestle

  • Rain

  • Doors opening

  • Footsteps from all visitors

  • Clock ticking

  • Screen switching by the player

  • Daytime ambience and street noise

  • Radio turning on

  • Picking up stone and wooden tools

Here’s what the transition between game screens looks like now:

On top of all that, the VERY FIRST in-game soundtrack

was added - you can listen to it in full in the following video:

Also, some little things were added - like animated clouds in the background, designs beyond the game screen edges (for different monitor formats), and so on. But I won’t dwell too much on those.

The project isn’t standing still. it’s alive and moving forward fiercely. Big thanks to everyone! ❤️
