We’ve just released a new minor version update for Memao Sprite Sheet Creator, focused on streamlining the sprite selection experience, improving quality of life, and patching up some lingering bugs. Here's what’s new:
Redesigned Sprite Section
We’ve overhauled the sprite section for better usability! Previously, each sprite part had its own isolated section, making it tricky to see how related elements shared color palettes. Now, connected parts are grouped under a unified color section, like HairABC which share a palette. This should make customization much more intuitive!
Renamed Sprites for Clarity
We’ve updated sprite and section names to better reflect what they represent — for example, TopB
is now properly labeled as Shirt Sleeves
.
Smarter Palette Selection
Clicking anywhere in the sprite section now updates the palette view and highlights the currently selected sprite for smoother navigation.
Improved Cursor Feedback
The cursor now changes when hovering over non-clickable buttons to reduce confusion.
Desktop Shortcut Behavior
On desktop, pressing the Sprite Creator button will now refocus the existing window if one is already open, instead of launching a new instance.
Long Name Support in Saved Sprites
Tooltips and scrolling text have been added to display long filenames in the saved sprite list.
Clearer Delete Prompts
Deletion alerts now display the full filename, so there's no doubt about what you're removing.
Locked Sprites Randomizing
Fixed an issue where locked sprite parts would still change during randomization.
Web Save Inconsistency
Saved characters on the web demo now retain their correct appearance after refreshing the page.
Sprite Preview Sync
Clicking a saved sprite row now reliably updates the character preview.
Thank you all for your continued support and feedback! We hope these improvements make your creative flow even smoother. If you run into any issues or have suggestions, feel free to reach out through our Itch.io discussion board!
