A new update is here, packed with exciting features that’ll bring your Whimsy games to life! And also partially bridges the gap in functionality between Whimsy and the project that inspired its creation, Bitsy.
One of the highlights is the brand-new renderer, built on canvas technology. This means you get perfect display precision on any device, and the renderer now supports animated tiles, too! It’s optimized to death so you can create stunning visuals without worrying about performance. Every tile (prop, actor, hero themself) can now be marked as animated, with three-frame animation.
I’ve also added some powerful new blocks to the scenario editor. The “Random outcome” will help with variety in actor interactions, while “Run one in a list” runs a new predefined step in actor’s algorithm every time you interact with them.
But that’s not all — new version brings a sound effect generator with its new asset type, Sound Cues 📢✨ This feature is accompanied with a new scenario block “Play a sound cue”
With these updates, you’ll be able to create even more engaging stories with Whimsy!
