Devlog 10: Pressure cooking!
Hey everyone! We’re back with another Soup Showdown update. Week 11 was full of finishing up features as we inch closer to the finish line.
Pressure is on! (literally—there’s a lid now) Here’s what we got done:
Art
- Built the outside environment
- Revamped the lobby layout and visuals
- Rearranged the win screen to feel more celebratory
- Created fire FX, splash FX, and a lid for the cauldron
- Made progress on animation states
- Implemented last week’s UI work
- Added utensil stats UI to the lobby
- Updated thought bubble visuals for the guide
- Added controller button visuals
- Modeled spice bottles for lobby decoration
Programming
- Finished the highlight shader
- Remade the win screen logic and added animations
- Animated the cauldron lid to press players to deliver soup
- Added aim direction indicator
- Implemented ghost pepper splash and ingredient bouncing
- Made utensil cleaning more obvious
Sound
- Finished and implemented all remaining SFX
- Rewrote the music manager for smoother transitions
- Lobby interactions (utensil swap, add player)
- Power-ups: butter, mushroom, snail, squid, bomb
- “Press to stir” indicator
