Release 0.0.1800.0
Project 4A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
I’m super excited to show off version 0.0.1800! 1800 is Project 4’s biggest major version yet.
The next major version of Project 4 should be feature-complete,
after which I will focus on polishing the game and making an art pass.
This release also comes with a new tool, the Item Editor.
Simply drop the vanilla data/items.json
file into it (or your own mod’s) and start adding, removing, or tweaking items.
Added:
- Stations hangar image is now deterimed by system economy type.
- The fabrication menu is now finished, allowing the player to craft items
- The purchase menus now show descriptions of the selected items
- Some systems are now populated with AI ships that fly along trade routes
- Several new ships have been added to the game, purchasable from the shipyard
- The hangar menu allows you to switch between owned ships
- There are now several types of PDC
- A new preset system (Tau Ceti) has been added to the game
- All transactions are now logged in the wallet
- Expanded name pool for all proceedural generators
- Added tank style controls to the game
- The splash screen now shows loading progress
- Systems now have a chance to spawn with asteroid belts
- Your distance to your target is now shown alongside your ETA.
- Added many new trade goods
Changed:
- You can now switch between 8-direction and tank controls
- Station tabs now have more readable colours
- Bonetree now has support for paragraph rendering
- The default HYDAR has had its range buffed
- PDCs can now only target a finite amount of ships at a time
- PDCs have had their default fire rate buffed
- Warp speed is now calculated logarithmically
- Cheat commands no longer get bundled with public releases
- The ship shown on the main menu is now chosen randomly from the ship pool
- Focus panels now have limited mouse support
- Holding CTRL and SHIFT modifies the amount of items moved in inventory panels
- Clicking the system name in flight now opens the map
- All header bar items now have tooltips
- Pause menu has been migrated to the new UI framework, bringing with it several fixes
- The window icon is now the ATS insignia
- It is now possible to theme more elements with the custom theming system
- The tutorial has been updated
- All save file related error messages are now more human-friendly
- Reduced the jumpgate cooldown from 40 seconds to 10 seconds
- Save files now store playtime
- Finished the emergency stop, so it no longer acts as a catapult
- Preset systems now have preset economy types
Fixed:
- Fixed HYDAR not detecting certain entities
- Fixed Focus panel appearing in pause menu
- Fixed map panel appearing in the pause menu
- Fixed double-highlighting in the focus panel
- Fixed the station map not closing properly
- Fixed the station map incorrectly handling mouse clicks
- Fixed pause menu causing the game to crash
- Fixed the navball pointing in the wrong direction
- Fixed warp effect sometimes rendering incorrectly
- Fixed volume getting corrupted due to incorrect saving
- Fixed inventories containing stacks of 0 items
- Fixed “Toggle Point Defense” keybind being labeled incorrectly
- Fixed VSync config flag being ignored
- Fixed map incorrectly rendering stars
Removed:
- Removed some unused assets from the game files
