Hi again! It's been a few weeks since our last devlog. Even though we haven’t made as much progress as we’d hoped—life got busy!—we’re still fully committed to bringing Purrrcatory Escape to life. We've started implementing key elements that bring us closer to a functional demo. In this devlog, we’ll share some visual updates, gameplay tweaks, and what’s coming next.
Time Slowdown Mechanic
When the yarn ball stops moving, time slows down temporarily. This gives players a moment to reposition before everything returns to normal speed.
Camera Follow System
We added a dynamic camera that follows the cat throughout the different levels, improving the visual experience and keeping the action centered.
Idle Animation Fix
The idle animation has been improved! The cat now lies down indefinitely until the player moves again.
Pause & Main Menus
We’re planning to add both the pause menu and the main menu to improve user flow and accessibility.
Ball Strike Mechanic
We're starting work on a mechanic that allows players to actively hit the yarn ball, adding depth and control to the gameplay.
New Level Sprites
We plan to design and implement new pixel art assets to give upcoming levels more visual variety.
