Devlog: Thank you + Updates!
Ello everyone!
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who played and gave feedback on Descent! Your comments, bug reports, and encouragement really helped me make the game better. Here's a rundown of what changed:
Bug Fixes
- Flinch Threshold Too High - Adjusted it so injuries feel more natural and less like your character is secretly invincible.
- Dialogues Overlapping When Inspecting - Fixed an issue where multiple dialogue boxes would talk over each other like zeep zorp cat..
- Checkpoint Not Working - Made sure the checkpoint system actually does its job now. (You’re welcome, past selves.)
- Exit Button in Game Over Panel Not Working - Clicking "Exit" actually exits the game now instead of trapping you forever. Minor detail, right?
Improvements
- Graphics (Less RF Noise) - Cleaned up the static noise a bit to make things easier on the eyes without losing the retro vibe.
- Post Processing Effects - Added some color grading, a nice vignette, and a few retro effects to make the cave look even moodier (and scarier).
- Text Size Format - Decreased the text size for better consistency and spacing. It looks cleaner now and fits the overall UI much better.
- UI Health Size - Made the health display more visible because, you know, it’s kind of important when you're bleeding out.
- Dialogues - Polished up dialogue timing and transitions to feel more natural and immersive.
- Main Menu Flashlight Effect - Added a spotlight that follows your cursor around the main menu for some extra spooky vibes.

Plans
I'm planning to bring Descent to the Play Store eventually! Gotta save up first though... college life has me on that broke student grind. If you enjoyed the game or have more feedback, let me know! It really helps a lot.
Thanks again for playing and supporting my very first release!
