I guess, as the title suggests, we will be talking about the F95zone website. What can I say about this site, it is a platform for games and visual novels with a strong bias towards pornographic content. I would even say with a strong bias towards exotic fetishes! But that is just my subjective opinion. Some developer tutorials have recommended this site for distributing adult visual novels. Any opportunity is good, and I saw no downside to this venture. However, the difficulty was in the very unclear registration of the project. Recently, I was finally ready to publish my visual novel there. But imagine my surprise when I discovered that my visual novel had already been registered on that site. Moreover, it had been registered there from the moment I finished the prologue and started my personal expansion, which largely started with itch.
I would like to repeat some thoughts. I think it doesn't matter how much time I spent creating the prologue of my visual novel. The more important aspect here is that it has only been distributed for a month. So I don't know if my numbers are good or not, it takes more time. But I still think my numbers are bad for a newcomer without an audience. I have no idea how to react to the fact that someone else has published my visual novel. I just found out now... A month later! But I do know that I can't be angry about it. Why should I be angry? Unless I would like to follow the comments on F95zone after the release of my visual novel. Every comment related to my project is the most important thing for me now. It is motivation to continue and inspiration to work harder. It is getting to know the thoughts of those who are playing my visual novel right now that will determine what will happen to it in the future. What exactly will it become in the end? And even... Will there be an ending?
Now I'm at a dead end because I expected more feedback. And what developer doesn't expect more? But there is no feedback. I mean, of course I understand that I'm behaving like a capricious child, like an arrogant developer who expects his game to suddenly become the most popular in the world. Besides, I haven't received a single negative comment yet, only positive ones. I studied other people's projects and thought that negativity towards new projects is a common practice. But in my case, I'm still waiting for someone who doesn't like my game to come along and hit me in the face with a baseball bat.
On F95zone I found some pretty interesting comments and even criticism, I guess! I understand why everyone compares the No Flying characters to harpies. Ha ha ha! But if you look at my Patreon account, you can find a post with a comic from this universe that I drew three years ago! And they were furry birds back then, so they weren't harpies even then. I also want to clarify that the story takes place in an exclusive world, i.e. it's not the future of our world, not a post-apocalypse. Why would anyone even think that? Well, oh well.
Now let's talk about criticism! The wings are not designed for flying. Yes, they are not! Of course, no one would be able to fly on such wings! It's obvious! It's an artistic convention, have you even seen the drawing style? But it's really funny, in general the main idea was to make a reference to modern society. Everyone has potential that can be developed, like fantasy or some talent, but like the wings in No Flying, you can live a whole life without even suspecting that you have this gift. It's really a midlife crisis simulator in a way. Ha ha ha!
I also have to say that many people don't understand the concept of my game. First of all, let me remind you that this is just a prologue! This is not even the main story! This is just the beginning, the most interesting part is yet to come! Of course, the ability to choose a direction from five characters is in the prologue for a reason. After all, this is a visual novel and a dating simulator! Of course, you will be able to have a unique experience with each character separately.
I am a newbie to game development. But at the same time, I am an avid player of visual novels, including nsfw visual novels. At first, I wanted to make something new, different from anything I had played before, to create an experience that I felt was missing in other games. Of course, I could have made a regular interactive clicker with a bunch of mini-games. Make it so that the game itself takes the player by the hand and tells them what to do. But that's exactly the approach I don't like in visual novels. Some people may like it, I get it! But I don't like it! I could have made it so that after a bunch of text, you could choose from all eight animations, but why? There is no life in it, there is no mystery in it! Also, the system I came up with for the choices and the evolution of Hummrew is really extremely detailed! You will not see all the animations in one playthrough, because some are mutually exclusive. It is impossible to see all four dreams in one playthrough, because each dream has a unique progression path in Hummrew. Many of the progression paths will play a huge role in future updates, you should understand that 95% of the choices lead to unique decisions and unique gameplay experiences in No Flying. I don't want to make a game that is intrusive and tells the player what to do, so I abandoned the indicators and stats in favor of what I really wanted to see in my game. Namely, a visual novel! We are talking about a visual novel! It's a story with pictures! Since when are Diablo-style maps and indicators mandatory in visual novels?
Anyway, thank you all for your comments. Thank you for paying attention to my game. I am really happy that you wanted to tell me that you like my game. This is important! Honestly, I will repeat once again, this is the most important thing for me at this stage of my project's development! Your comments! The more of them, the stronger I am! Thanks to the user F95zone with the nickname Lerd0 for publishing my game, at least I don't have to deal with it.
And special thanks to the user F95zone with the nickname jackdanniels, who wrote reviews for my visual novel. If there is anyone on this planet who played my game and felt like writing reviews afterward... Wow! That means I am doing everything right. Thank you very much.
Please write a comment, anything, write whoever you choose from the five characters, or just write hello. I see that you are reading my thoughts about my experiences in these devlogs. It will really help me a lot. If it is not too much trouble for you.
