"Let's Play Some NSFW Demos!" O&T Posts
Welcome to Part 5 of the Let’s Play Some NSFW Demos! | LPSNWD series!
Since YouTube is going to take my video down, and WordPress wants me to pay a subscription to Embed the video into the post, I compressed it into a ZIP file and uploaded it to Google Drive. To download 20250410 - LPSNWD 5, click here.
The reason for showing NSFW games is to break the stigma around sex. There's sexual content in books, movies, comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, and other forms of media and entertainment, so, of course, it belongs in games as well. If you don't think adult themes belong in games because you think games are for kids, I HIGHLY suggest unpacking the belief.
The other reason I'm showing NSFW games is because I don't like censorship and things being challenged because they make people uncomfortable. You not liking something means YOU don’t engage with it. It doesn't give you the right to tell everyone else, "No."
Typically, there are 4 demos. Each demo gets 30 minutes, not including the adjustment of settings and character creation. I might up it to 5 and/or play a great game for longer if there are technical issues. Or a demo finishes before the timer goes off.
And NO AI's spit, aka. plagiarism laundering.
To avoid triggering people, I avoided games that include violent rape, or as people who don't want to be demonetized by certain platforms put it, due to censorship, "non-consensual sex". There are a myriad of reasons as to why it would show up in games, just like they show up in other forms of media, but I'm not showing them here.
I will, however, learning from the Pilot episode, show games that downplay their "non-consensual sex" by making it funny and explaining why doing so could be problematic and cause some issues with those who do not have a strong understanding or grasp of consent.
The 4 demos I played for your enjoyment are:

GIRLDIVERS, Sapphire Safari, and Succubus Dungeon are also on itch.io!
With all that out the way, here are my opinions, via the "Layered Compliment Sandwich":
GIRLDIVERS was more entertaining than I expected it to be. The objectification wasn't a surprise, but the combat was. The combat took more figuring out than I would like. Of course the boobs were extra jiggly, no shock there. Very well animated, though. The art was pretty great, too! Though, the part where the hologram got upset at my killing the sheep was a funny bit of humor I didn't expect. Also, "Kick the baby"... initially, I was confused. Why am I kicking the baby? I know it's a bug, but why am I kicking them? Oh. That was good. I don't know how I didn't see that coming. Getting back to the art, it looks like they've combined pixel art and non. Well done. One criticism is with the missions; it wasn't clear to me, initially, when a mission was complete. Though, I am open to the fact I wasn't paying attention. I was kinda busy trying not to get eaten by bugs... who were very well designed.
Hellgate Reiko needs more guidance on how to play. I should not have spent so much time figuring things out. THANKFULLY, I was able to figure it out. Not what I expected, and it was a pleasant surprise. The different kinds of fighters I can get, via luck, wasn't new. The fact they can be upgraded, and I could get more fighters, during the fight, however, was. At least for me. It took be a bit to figure out how the waves worked. It took me longer than it should have to figure out the different colors of the cards, to represent who I would fight on the next floor, were to show difficulty. I did get a bit of a Hades vibe, which I didn't mention in the video because I just thought of it now (for those who haven't played, you get some idea of what will happen next based on the icon above the door(s) and you can pick which one you go through). I don't like the fact all I'm doing is moving up and down while everyone else is doing the attacking. Could I get a knife, or something? Just moving around, and picking the direction everyone faces, is micromanagement I don't like. And could we get a fullscreen option, please? The art is fantastic, and cuter than it should be, considering the fact we're trying to stop an invasion from hell. It's a fun game on its own; sexual themes aren't even necessary!
Sapphire Safari was the one I predicted to be the most problematic, and it proved me right. I also predicted it would be the most entertaining despite this, and, since I, while writing this, kept myself from playing it so I can, anecdotally, I was right. Photographers and scientists are on an island to document the behavior(s) of the island's inhabitants, the wildlife, and the flora, to find out the "wildlife" are humanoid and frisky. It is an incredibly FASCINATING concept, even if it is objectifying. Photographing people engaging in sexual activities without their consent isn't right. Hopefully, people going into the game know this. And, getting into the expedition log, laughing at someone being uncomfortable about being solicited for sex isn't appropriate. Hopefully, people going into the game know this. Getting to the mechanics, how Jamie moved when I was sneaking reminded me of Skyrim. Moving around, after some adjustment, was smooth. And, props for being able to play a man. And having a futa option for Jamie.
Succubus Dungeon was a short and sweet demo that I found to be too short because I wanted to keep fighting things. And it told me what to expect of the game concisely, so, I'm not going to bitch about the time. The art was fantastic! You really need to TRY to ruin pixel art! And the combat was fun! And, while I don't know how interested the developers actually are in the story, I wanna know why the guy was going to be sacrificed. And, because I didn't realize the fight was over, I missed why the demon(?) became a slave. I don't have to say why a woman becoming a man's slave after losing a fight to him is a problem, right? Bouncing off the art real quick, the animations are great, too! It's a fun platformer that just so happens to have sex in it. Take the sex out and it would do well on its own!
Overall, I want them all, and they are on my wishlist.
As a reminder, GIRLDIVERS is Available, Hellgate Reiko's Planned Release Date is 2025, Sapphire Safari is an Early Access Game, and Succubus Dungeon is Coming Soon To Early Access.
