Hey!
I'm excited to share my real-time strategy game FactionRift.io with you. This is my first serious game project, built solo.
FactionRift is a multiplayer, browser-based territory control game where you create your own faction and try to dominate the map in real-time against other players.
You can:
Create up to 5 custom factions with their own name, color, and ranking
Command troops, set rally points, and make snap decisions as the map shifts
Compete in fast, 10–15 minute matches with a balance of strategy and quick reactions
Climb the ladder via an ELO-based ranking system
Spectate live games to study strategies (or just see the madness unfold)
It’s designed to be easy to pick up but with plenty of depth once you get into it.
Just launched the multi-faction system, which lets you create and manage five different faction identities — each with their own style and rating. Want to roleplay a peaceful turtle faction and a chaotic rush-down empire? Go for it.
Building this has been a massive learning experience. I’m using Angular for the frontend, Phaser for rendering, and custom real-time multiplayer backend with Socket.io to handle thousands of cells updating across active matches.
Biggest challenge so far? Balancing performance + strategy. Real-time territory games with multiple players means a lot of action, and I’ve been tuning things to stay fast and smooth, even when the map gets crowded.
I’ve got a solid roadmap ahead, including:
UI and visual polish
Deeper mechanics for territory control ( Maybe you can build castles, or walls, or cast fireballs? who knows )
Mobile-friendly improvements (PWA optimizations are coming)
The game runs entirely in the browser — no install, no nonsense. Just jump in and try to claim some ground: 👉 https://FactionRift.io
Whether you’ve got feedback, bug reports, feature ideas, or just want to say hello — I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for checking out the game. This is just the beginning.
Happy conquering. 🗺️
