As we were trying to do the animations of the character, we realized that humanoid animation was out of scope for our team, and it was hard to give the smooth feel that we wanted. We had to make the difficult decision to change from a person on a hoverboard to a ship. This made the animations much easier to do procedurally.
Another thing we noticed was that it was quite clunky to use the vertical space, so we reconsidered the plane controls. We realized that the main issue with them was the rolling. We added back the plane controls but removed rolling, so the model is permanently horizontal other than some tilting for animations.
As we wrap up these devlogs, we still have some plans for this game. We still need to add more augments for the weapons, more vfx, as well as a death screen. There's still some bugs we need fixing too, but for the remaining time we will focus on polishing the game and making it feel good. As for new content, we may be seeing a boss in the near future, so stay tuned!
