Game Description

The Lost Scroll is an AR puzzle adventure game that immerses players in a world of lost art, historical mysteries, and cultural heritage. Using augmented reality, players transform the real world into an interactive historical scene and uncover the story behind a forgotten masterpiece.

At the heart of the game is a real-world table, which becomes a virtual writing desk through AR technology. Scattered across it are letters, diaries, and old documents filled with mysterious messages and hidden clues. By reading, decoding, and piecing together fragmented information, players gradually unveil the long-lost history behind a forgotten painting.

Through reading letters, diaries, and historical records, players gain insight into the lives of people from the past — their struggles, daily life, and the context of war. These records contain hidden messages and puzzles that must be solved to reconstruct the full story.

Once the final mystery is solved, the game shifts into an immersive AR experience, revealing the restored artwork in its entirety. Players are guided on a historical journey through the painting — exploring its origins, significance, and the cultural narrative it embodies.

Desk Exploration (Phase 1)

• In the real world, physical cards are placed on a table, each corresponding to a letter, diary, or document in the AR environment.
• When players interact with a card, it is digitally transformed in AR to reveal its full contents.
• By browsing and examining these documents, players uncover details about the historical period, the characters involved, and the events that shaped the story of the artwork.

Decoding and Puzzle Solving (Phase 2)

• Players must analyze text, decode symbols, and connect clues to progress.
• Each document reveals a fragment of the lost story, guiding the player to seek out historical traces.
• As players solve these puzzles, the hidden painting gradually emerges in the background.

• Final Discovery (Phase 3)
• The fully restored artwork is revealed.
• An AR story begins, narrating the painting’s history and significance.
• As the game concludes, it encourages reflection on the importance of cultural heritage and its preservation.
