We are finally nearing the final stretch of our first sprint! In these last remaining hours we attempted to finish as many models as we could and finish our core gameplay workings. LanceALot is progressing well and we are excited to start our second sprint soon!
Here are some of the latest art assets we created for Lance-A-Lot.
What would a jousting knight be without their trusty steed by their side? We present to you the latest and greatest equestrian technology in the kingdom, developped by only the greatest minds handpicked by the king himself. These stick horses are not to play around with! They are a rare and elegant tool of which all young squires dream to one day accompany them into glorious battle.
Next to the arena some swords are being sold and lying around for sparring purposes. Not as elegant and mighty as the heroic lance, but effective at close range slashing, stabbing and murderous violence nonetheless.
Behold! The majestic crate! These woodworking wonders can hold any amount of items that fit in a cubic meter. Legends tell of vengefull forest gnomes that resent civilised folk for killing their homely trees. In return, when no one is looking, these spirits move around the crates of the kingdom to the most inconvenient places possible. Those bastards! Maybe that is why these crates keep popping up in the arena between rounds?
This week we introduced a new mechanic. A spin attack that players can use to quickly get some space from other players. We also worked on some bug fixing and balancing of the game.
As you can see it does at knockback to both players.
UI changes
Next up when playing the game itself. Depending on the color the player chose in the beginning their banners and player model will change. As you can see the flags are aligned as well depending on which player joined first. When the countdown ends and the players can joust, the banners fade away so that it doesn't interfere too much with the gameplay. Then when a player wins the flags become fully visible, the player who won gets an extra star, and at the end of the countdown the banners dissapear again. Some changes are still going to be made to make sure the winner is announced properly and the banners actually have a fade out and fade in effect.
