This is a post to update you on where we are right now and to explain what’s coming in the next update. You don’t have to read this.
As I mentioned before, we had to rethink how to approach these two updates, which ended up mixing some things that were originally planned separately.
The next update, 0.08, has a planned release date, but we’re keeping it private until we finalize the core. (Though it’s expected to drop in April, and I’m still drawing a lot of stuff.) Here’s what’s coming:
We're also improving the back-end code to handle data more centrally. This will create a stronger foundation, better performance, and fewer chances of bugs. But most importantly, it will speed up the implementation of new content (and there’s a lot coming!). The reason we’re adding so many scenes in this update is to stress-test the new system as much as possible. (I am also a gooner.)
The approach for these two updates prioritizes 0.1, which is the most important one since it introduces most of the core gameplay.
One last note: we're finally wrapping up this phase. It turned out to be more complex than expected... but for the right reasons.
No more posts this week, there is a lot to do yet.
