I maintained and released Nanosmiles, a top-down microorganism shooting game I made in 2008, on itch.io. I took this opportunity to clean up some tasks that had been left for 17 years, such as integrating the English and Japanese versions and implementing automatic BGM changes. It was built using GameMaker 8.1, an old development tool.
When I was in middle school, I used to enjoy looking through biology textbooks and imagining the world of microorganisms. This game is a representation of that world—a flagship work of my youth. There aren’t too many stages, so I think it can be cleared in about an hour. I hope you give it a try.
