We’ve just completed our first week of testing our prototype, and we’re quite pleased with how it turned out and where it’s headed. Since the game was originally built a long time ago and has undergone numerous changes, some of its core code has become a bit messy, which could eventually impact development. We’re actively working on improving that, but we’re not stopping adding new content.
In addition to these improvements, we have two major features on the way:
This system will work differently from traits. Each class will have at least three possible upgrade paths, and later on, each of these will branch into three more. Upgraded characters will be significantly different from their base versions. While they will still fulfill the same general role, their playstyle may change drastically.
For example, a support character could be upgraded into a medic, which is essentially a superior version of support, or into an engineer, who loses the ability to heal but gains other abilities to assist the team in different ways.
Currently, weapons can only be upgraded by combining two identical ones. After the update, players will be able to upgrade weapons into different variants using other weapons.
For example, you’ll be able to upgrade an assault rifle using a shotgun. Instead of simply improving the rifle, this combination will result in an assault rifle with an underbarrel shotgun attachment, allowing you to fire both separately.
