Week 3 Tutorial/Self Study

UTAS KIT207 Portfolio
A downloadable game

This week (week 3) had us learn and create with the Terrain tool and ProBuilder!!! My goal for the self-study was to make an environment for my player character to explore and have as much fun out of it as I could.

1. Terrain Tool

I enjoyed using the terrain tool, I found something about being able to sculpt mountains and paint them to seem more realistic very fun.  There wasn't really any problem that I had when it came to terrain, I just messed around for a bit at first to get a feel for it before officially creating my environment.

2. ProBuilder

When starting with ProBuilder I was a bit confused because there were a few things different in the  self-study instructions to Unity 6. One thing is that ProBuilder does not have a window that I could find, just options under tools, and the toolbar in the scene window. I decided to create an out-house to put into my scene. I used a poly-shape to create a U shape for the walls, a prism for a triangular roof, and a door for, well, the door. Originally I was going to use just a brown material for the texture, but after not liking the look, I found a wood texture from Poly Haven (Worn Planks Texture • Poly Haven by Dimitrios Savva) and used that, as well as a corrugated iron from the same site (Worn Corrugated Iron Texture • Poly Haven by Dimitrios Savva and Jenelle van Heerden).
