Recolonizer Changelog – A Wild Voyage Through Unity Upgrades

Ahoy, captains! This update be a big one. I went down a rabbit hole, upgraded Recolonizer to a newer Unity version, and, well... everything broke. Cinemachine? Shattered. Water shader? Busted. But after many battles with the code, the ship is back afloat—mostly.

The Good News 🌊

WebGL Water Foam is Finally Fixed! 🎉 – Ever since build 2024.10, the foam refused to show up in WebGL, but after fixing the water shader, it’s finally rendering properly. No more invisible waves!

⚓ Performance issues were dealt with... for now... The game's framerate was reduced to ash when enough cannons were put in place. If those cannons were grapeshooters, your computer might have life-long trauma.

Bug Squashing Time! 🪲 – Some long-standing issues walked the plank, including:

  • Levels randomly failing for no reason (bad luck ain't a mechanic).
  • Some levels being downright impossible to win (oops).
  • Cannons deciding they’d rather not fire (not a great defense strategy).
  • Upgrade animations now feel a little more… satisfying. You earned that firepower!

The "Work in Progress" News 🏴‍☠️

Cinemachine Migration = New Camera Bugs! – The great Unity upgrade introduced some new gremlins in the camera system. If ye spot any, report them to the Bug Squad (that’s me).

Lighting Updates = Shadows Got a Little Too Moody – Some areas might be darker than intended. I’ll be fixing this in a future patch.

Thanks for playing, and as always—man the cannons, keep yer powder dry, and sink those invaders! 🏝️🔥
