Not So Standard Procedure is a video game created for Brackeys Game Jam 2025.1 using Unity. It is a 2D pixel art game where the player must rescue workers from a burning building. To accomplish this, they control NCGW, a security and maintenance robot that will face a series of malfunctions when an unexpected incident disrupts its systems.
The goal of the project was to create a game with a clear beginning and end, making it feasible to complete within just 7 days. The available development time per day was approximately 4 hours, which led to the removal of several planned features. Some of the features that were not included in the jam version are:
Despite the limitations, I was able to complete the project with a short and simple game, but one that offers engaging gameplay that tests the player's skill and decision-making. Beating your own high score won't be easy, as each play-through presents unpredictable challenges that can quickly spiral out of control.
I would like to implement all the features that were left out of this version in the near future to make the game more polished and optimized. Depending on my available time and other development projects I’m involved in, the timeframe for updating this initial version of Not So Standard Procedure may vary.
