hello world v0.1
hello, world is finally here! I am deeply excited to share the development and evolution of this game with you.
The current uploads represent the playtest materials I used as a GM to run the game at GoPlay Northwest this past weekend. Not included: actual description of the core mechanics for somebody who isn't a Forged in the Dark veteran, and all of the little fiddly rules and half-baked concepts that are in my head and only halfway written down on a cluttered Google Drive document.
A list of all that stuff would look something like:
- Downtime actions (assume standard Blades in the Dark stuff, and you'll be fine).
- Action roll rules (right now just assume standard Blades in the Dark as that's 95 percent of it).
- that last five percent would include an explanation for the optional "reverse Disruption/Harm" rules that the game is intended to use, though it can actually run just fine with normal Blades harm.
- a complete faction list (right now you can run approximately 3 factions with any sort of fidelity, ie. they have named NPCs). This was fine for a one-shot, less so for any sort of campaign play.
- A lively GM imagination or the flat-out import of factions from other places/media you like will serve you well here. World is nothing if not a little bit anachronistic and referential: have Duskvol gangsters if you want, have feudal nobility and castles if you fancy, have strange districts of people taken seemingly out of time.
- the Roller playbook is a little bit of a last-minute include and lacks equipment descriptions or discussion of what the fiction for the vehicle might be like.
- So many other things!?!
Feedback is welcome but bear in mind that all things are subject to change and this is pre-Early Access first draft material, essentially.
