Frogstool Devlog - Engine Upgrade & Steam Release Progress

Frogstool
A browser game made in HTML5

Hey everyone! Got a big update on Frogstool- I finally converted the game from Construct 2 to Construct 3! It was a massive headache, and honestly, I was about to throw my computer at the wall a couple of times. Construct 3 doesn’t support some of the third-party plugins I used in Construct 2, which meant I had to figure out workarounds for a bunch of stuff.

One of the biggest pains? The WebStorage plugin got completely removed in Construct 3. Absolute lame for brains move, if you ask me. That plugin handled the highscore system, so I had to rebuild the whole damn thing from scratch. Not awesome. But hey, I got it working, so at least there's that!

On the bright side, now that Frogstool is fully running in Construct 3, I feel like there’s a lot more room for experimentation. Future updates are looking promising, and I’m stoked about the potential for new features.

In other news, I’ve been grinding away at getting the game released on Steam, and let me tell you- it has not been easy. Right now, I’m waiting for my Playtest version to get approved. Hoping the achievements I set up actually work, but I won’t know until it’s approved. Fingers crossed!

Also, I added 50 more splash texts to the title screen! Some of my favorites:

  • "Every great king started as a mere tadpole."
  • "Cocferno has a tower, an army, and fire breath... but you have a really long tongue!"
  • "from underdog to overlord... what a leap!"
  • "Tongue-fu master"

That’s all for now! excited for what’s next. Stay tuned for more updates!
