Hey everyone! I'm Aniket Kumar, and Iโm excited to share my latest game, Move Invert! ๐ฎ This is a simple yet challenging arcade game where left is right, and right is left โ a small twist that makes the game surprisingly tricky!
The inspiration for this game came from the idea of messing with player intuition. We're so used to pressing left to move left and right to move right โ but what if we flipped that? ๐ค
At first, I thought it would just be a small gimmick, but when I started testing, I realized how difficult yet fun it was to adjust to the inverted controls. It created a unique kind of challenge where your brain fights against what itโs used to!
I built this game using Unity, focusing on keeping the mechanics simple but engaging. Hereโs a quick breakdown of the development:
One of the biggest challenges was making sure the game felt fair but difficult. At first, the movement felt too slippery, making it frustrating instead of fun. After tweaking the acceleration and deceleration values, I found a balance that made the controls responsive while keeping the inverted challenge intact.
Another issue was player adaptability โ I had to ensure players had a learning curve to get used to the reversed controls without feeling frustrated. I experimented with different speeds and obstacle placements to gradually ease them in.
Move Invert is now available for PC (ZIP) and Android (APK)! You can download it and test your reflexes.
The game is live on itch.io, so go ahead and try it out! Let me know in the comments what you think. Can you master the inverted controls? ๐
