Better Ending / Upset At Itch

Robot Kitty City
A browser game made in HTML5

People on my Discord will know that I have been unhappy with the ending for this visual novel for a while, at least since November, and I planned on adding a couple more scenes to the ending to add some more closure, clarify some things, adjust some of the visuals, and end in a more satisfying way. The reason why I didn't do it earlier was because, at the time, Robot Kitty City was not getting much attention so, even though I wasn't happy with the ending, I didn't think that too many people would care that it was 'bad' and I wanted to move onto make something else.

Now, I have 'fixed' the ending in a way that I find personally satisfying, and I hope that my efforts are not fruitless. This might be my longest visual novel in terms of visuals and I hope that someday it is appreciated for what it is.

I'm also pretty mad at Itch right now for, essentially, sabotaging the potential growth and visibility of every single one of my projects for months. So, Adore The Doll, Reactbot Dating Simulator, Yu-Gi-Oh Card Dating, Learning To Love A Pokemon, and Crossing A Line have all been sabotaged due to an apparent mistake by Itch that I wasn't even aware was an issue because nobody told me, which I have been upset about for weeks as I waited for Itch to respond to the email I sent to them about it.

That isn't something that I feel can just be brushed off, especially if the attitude Itch has with hurting at least five of my projects on this site is "Our bad, but also, it's not our fault."

It doesn't feel like Itch is going to make an effort to even apologise much less try to make things right, even if they believe they did nothing wrong, due to my feelings regarding this issue. I know that I'm overly emotional right now regarding this, so I'm going to try moving forward with a cooler head. I do feel like I need to look for other options for posting my projects, which likely means not making NSFW projects anymore because I feel like I've been treated poorly by Itch not just for this incident, but also in general for a lot of my time here.

I feel like on social media Itch likes to come across as a cooler, hipper, and more accommodating version of Steam, but in practice they're just as bad towards developers as Steam, they just allow NSFW projects to exist freely on the site. It's kind of like how critics and journalists on Youtube like to pretend that they have more integrity than journalists for more reputable companies because they're allowed to swear and more freely express their personal opinions on topics while others need to be more objective.

Anyways, I hope that my efforts to improve the ending of this visual novel are appreciated, I apologise for posting another devlog so soon after updating Learning To Love A Pokemon, and I love you all. Remember to get your tax stuff done, and if you're Canadian, enjoy that $250 tax credit when you get it.

With Love,
