My First Devlog, Thanks to the Jam

Here’s the story. I had a lingering New Year’s spirit, and I decided it was time to finally set aside all my work projects for three days, gather the best collaborators I’ve worked with (who had the time), and fully participate in a game jam.

Day X. Time was ticking, and during the theme discussion, my girlfriend suggested we make a game about our corgi, Yoshi. What could be more fun and delightful than a snowball-throwing corgi (especially if there are MANY corgis)? So, we wrote a plan, assigned tasks to everyone, and dived into the project.

There were challenges. I was particularly worried about the multiplayer aspect, as it always tends to be more time-consuming. Additionally, we encountered unexpected difficulties with the corgi animations since we had previously worked only with static objects or humanoid characters. Fortunately, everything worked out, and aside from some final details, we managed to complete the game with a couple of hours to spare. My health…

Awesome? It was an incredible feeling to finally create something of my own after so many years—a small but complete and fun game for family and friends. Thanks to everyone who contributed in any way. Regardless of the jam’s outcome, I’m already very proud of my work and the organization of the whole process.

So, don’t be afraid, go for it, and enjoy the process—sometimes you just need to remember that programming is fun ^_^
