Pyramidal Break development has stopped
Hey! It's Pablo from Dinamic Creates here.
I've been thinking about Pyramidal Break for years and keeping in my mind the project to find a way to complete it. However, I feel like I'm not really into the development of this particular game anymore and it felt more like a chore than anything else. There were some difficulties that I would like to highlight to make sure everything is clear.
- Creating character art is currently something complex for this project.
- The last version of the game will not feature the desired quality of character art.
- Google's Play Store is really demanding. The project was heading to Android devices but it's not anymore.
- I don't like the fact that you must update old software as frequent as it has to be.
- Having not used my account for a while, they decided to terminate it even when, as a developer, you have to pay them for the license (no refunds obviously).
These are the things the game will not have and I wished it had:
- A finished mobile version, available on storefronts.
- Character arts for every character.
- A leaderboard for the infinite mode.
- Japanese language.
- Another hidden character, being unlockable inside the Sacrifice mode if you turned your clock back to December 21, 2012 (the end of the world according to the maya culture).
- A secret mission featuring a character from the future.
What I learned from this development:
- Finishing a game can be really difficult.
- Everything that is not written down in a document will come to torment you later.
- Creating games is fun.
- Do not build a mobile version until the very end. You CAN'T stick to the SDKs you have currently because Google doesn't want you to do so.
- Sharing games is even more fun than creating them.
The future of Pyramidal Break:
- I will consider creating an APK version similar to the last Windows build. No ads.
- The Windows version (and maybe APK version) will be available on dinamiccreates.com.
- A future remake with all these features could come someday, I like the characters and the concept. However, I want to pursue developing more complex games.
I would like to thank everyone that has played the game and everyone who supported me with it, specially Oukkurun for the music.
