Greetings Commander,
Hope you had a great New Year!
The latest patch has been released: Alpha v0.0.9
You can now remap hotkeys for most major actions in the game. Check out the full list of hotkeys in the Settings menu. This may not be fully comprehensive yet, but I think we got most of them. If you have more suggestions for hotkey functionality, please don't hesitate to make a post in the #Suggestions channel.
Managing your crew just got easier with the introduction of control groups. Assign individual or custom groups of units to shortcut keys for quick access:
We are currently working on adding ability support to the crew management keys, allowing you to map unit abilities and consumables to directly to hotkeys. For example: you could map the "1" key to Purify or the "4" key to Ancient Translocator. Expect this feature to release with the next patch.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on these new features:
Please feel free to share your ideas in the #Suggestions channel. If you encounter any bugs or rough edges, please report them in the #BugReporting channel. Your reports have been absolutely vital in helping us improve the game and make it the best experience it can be. As always, thanks for your support, and thanks for playing!
If you have already bought the game, you can install the latest patch by following these instructions:
*For those curious, your save data is not stored with the main game files and is actually located here: C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Void_War
**NOTE: Installing a new patch WILL break your last autosave, so make sure to finish your last run before installing.
If you want to stay up to date with the latest version without having to manually install new patches every time we release them, you can do so by installing the Itch.io app launcher. Once installed, download Void War and you should be good to go.
Note that your previously existing profile data will still be stored at the usual location: C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Void_War
Any existing profile data from the manually installed patches should carry over to the Itch.io app version without issue.
One last important detail: automatic patches will still break previously existing runs, and as far as we can tell, there is no way to disable automatic updates in the Itch.io app. If an auto-update has broken your previous run and you'd like to continue playing it, in the Itch app, go to Library > right-click Void War > Manage > Manage button > Switch to another version... > then select the last version of the game. This version should be compatible with your last autosave if it was recently broken by an auto update.
