Goodbye Eternity
A downloadable Game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android

The long-awaited day has finally arrived: version 0.10 is here!

You’re about to enjoy a truly delightful time with Sayuri. New exciting scenes, moments of connection, and of course, a little bit of drama—because without it, you might get bored.

At certain points in the story, some parts lacked coherence with the introduction of specific characters. That’s now fixed! The meeting with Kimochi will take place at the very beginning of the game through a brand-new event, while the encounter with Asami and Saito’s recruitment at the restaurant have been simplified.

Regarding Sayuri, two routes will be available depending on your relationship with her daughter. The "Love" and "Corruption" routes will lead to a friendly relationship with her. However, if you remain just friends with Asami, Sayuri might not be able to resist your charm.

During development, I considered adding a third route: one where you’re with both Asami and her mother. But such a choice would undoubtedly come with complications. Maybe we’ll organize a poll about it?

To conclude, an important poll about Asami will take place in 2025. I still need to finalize some details before presenting it to you.

And finally, a huge thank you to the entire team, who I had to push hard to get this update ready on time.

# Goodbye Eternity 0.10.0 patch note
## Major changes

A lot of internal reworks have been done to solve the crashing problems. As such, 0.9.1 and earlier saves will not be loaded by the new version.

The persistent file where gallery unlocks are stored is still working as intended.

To make up for the loss of save files, a new Chapter Start feature has been added, which allows the player to start at the beginning of each major chapter of the game.

You can choose what choices have been done before, and the new path is directly available. So unlike the previous Veteran Start, you can start straight from the newly-added chapter.

## Added
* Sayuri's route

    * 2 branches depending on Asami's relationship
    * 23 animation variants (including 3 transitions)
    * 6 CGs
    * 20 CG variants
    * 6 new locations
    * 8 character sprites in various backgrounds
* A new BGM piece
* Some raining in exterior locations (for the moment it only happens during the storyline)
    * Can be turned down or off if it makes the device slower, by reducing particles in the preferences
* Fonts for Cyrillic, Greek and CJK writing systems, so translations can work when `.po` files are placed in the right folder
    * Windows: `%appdata%\Godot\app_userdata\Goodbye Eternity\translations\`
    * Linux: `~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/Goodbye Eternity/translations/`
    * MacOS: `~/Library/Application Support/Godot/app_userdata/Goodbye Eternity/translations/`
    * Android is a mess to access apps data
    * Other fonts will be added if there is enough progress done on the translations.
* Chapter Start:
    * Allows the player to choose where to start their new game, and make the major choices they would have experienced if they had played all the way through
    * Unlike the old Ren'Py Veteran Start, it does not require to have played through the game at least once
* Typing speed preference, to slow down, speed up, or make instant text appearance
* Anti-softlock feature when time advancing is locked
    * Will try to detect and correct cases where the player has advanced beyond the time of day where the storyline happens

## Modified
* Some video animations have been changed to Spine animations
* Noriko's early path choosing has been simplified
* Kimochi's first encounter event has been changed
* Asami's early paths have been updated accordingly
* Patrons list has been updated. Thank you all for your support <3

## Fixed
* Major crash issues throughout the game (damn, that took a long time and a lot of efforts)
* Softlocks where some choices that looped forced the player into making the same choices
* Some gallery entries could not be unlocked by playing through the game
* Some background display errors
* Some dialogue typos

## Known issues
* When using a 1080p display, windowed mode will seem like a full screen, because the window will be at its base 1080p resolution
* When viewing the dialogue history, the time of day will not be reset
* BGMs usage throughout the game is very sparse
* One gallery entry is missing
* Pubes are missing from a few sprites and earlier CGs
