As long as I'm working, why not tick off two bugs instead of just one, right? There was an edge case I spotted for when the game couldn't find the save file during gameplay. I didn't spend too much time looking at what would happen; just enough to show me that it wasn't anything intended.
In the new case, if that player dies (by, say, immediately falling onto the inescapable-pit-of-very-acute-triangles to the left of start), and there is no save file, it will simply reload the scene. This is something which could ultimately go for a little polishing down the road.
